Podiatric Medicine

Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) focus on preventing, diagnosing and treating conditions associated with the foot, ankle and lower leg to improve patient health. They treat a variety of conditions and employ innovative treatments to accomplish this.

Podiatrists must have a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree from a college of podiatric medicine. Podiatrists often are referred to as foot doctors, foot and ankle surgeons or podiatric surgeons.

All states license podiatrists and require continuing education for license renewal.
